The questions we get asked first.
When is my tax return actually due?
If you lodge it yourself, 31 October. Clients of a registered tax agent are usually given a later date, but it is not automatic. If you are using an agent for the first time, or changing agents, the ATO says you should contact them before 31 October to be part of their lodgment program. Your own due date depends on your circumstances, so ask us and we will confirm it.
What do I need to bring to an appointment?
Most of it is already prefilled by the ATO. Bring anything that is not: receipts for work related expenses, records for any rental property, details of shares or crypto you sold, your private health statement, and any income the ATO would not already know about. If you are unsure, bring it and we will tell you whether it matters.
I am a few years behind. Can you still help?
Yes, and it is more common than you would think. Prior year returns can be brought up to date, and coming forward yourself is generally a better position than waiting to be contacted. We will work out what is outstanding, lodge them in order, and tell you where you stand before anything is submitted.
How much will it cost?
It depends on how complex your affairs are. A straightforward individual return is a different job to a company with a rental property behind it. We quote before any work starts, so you know the number in advance. No surprise invoice at the end.
Do I have to come to Kewdale?
No. Appointments run in person at Kewdale or over video, whichever suits you, seven days a week. Documents can be exchanged securely either way. Just not through the form on this page.
Why use a registered tax agent at all?
A registered agent appears on the TPB public register, carries professional indemnity insurance, and answers to a code of professional conduct. Practically, someone reviews what you can and cannot claim, and agent clients are usually given a later lodgment date. Whether that is worth it depends on how straightforward your situation is, and we will tell you honestly if it is not.

Ask a question, or book a time.
Tell us about your situation and we will come back to you quickly, with no obligation.
Pick a time that suits you, including the weekend.
Most Perth accountants shut at five and close on Saturday. We take appointments to 7pm on weekdays and from 10am to 4pm on both weekend days, at Kewdale or over video.
